The
Services the Hoffs Provide
After many years of service the Hoffs offer experienced guidance and
support to individuals, couples, and families, in all stages and phases
of the life cycle. They also provide organizational consultation to work
and living groups. Much of their work is done through
Quest: A Counseling and Healing Center, which
offers a professional context for their therapeutic work. The Hoffs are
gifted coaches and counselors whose wisdom is grounded in years of
practical application as well as ongoing study of transpersonal
psychology, the perennial philosophy, and current thinking about human
development.
In their work with individuals, the Hoffs recommend a careful self study
including exploring family of origin and life history. For couples, they
do “friendship training” as well as assist partners in acting
compassionately toward each other’s frailties and limitations. With
families they teach the concept of co-parenting and a system’s approach
to empower families. Parent coaching and child study are two common
activities in their approach. Their work with the Third Age—with people
who are preparing for retirement or experiencing the challenges of being
elderly—focuses on supporting health and hopefulness and teaching the
importance of ongoing relationships. They often quote the adage, “mental
health isn’t measured by the absence of problems but by the way you deal
with them.”
