Weekly Support Group
- Thursday Evenings
Some Goodenough members refer to these Thursday evening gatherings as a
counseling group, while others simply say, “I am comforted to know that
on Thursday evenings for almost every week of the year, I have a place I
can go where I will be befriended and guided if that’s what I need".
Both John and Colette Hoff are respected counselors and
coachers for individuals, couples and families. This
therapeutic group for individuals meets Thursday
evenings at 7:30 at the Seattle Community Center and is open to drop-ins. Suggested
donation is $30 per session. For more information or to
make an appointment, call (206) 323-4653.
Individual
Counseling - What You Can Expect
Counseling is most
helpful if you understand that while it involves conversations with a
counselor, counseling involves bringing about actual changes in your
life. You will be responded to as a capable individual, someone who is
learning to become more responsible for your development as you are
coached in practical skills that are necessary for effective living.
Preliminary sessions are intended to allow your counselor to make an
assessment and recommendations for your future work. This assessment
will have value of itself no matter how long you continue to see John
and/or Colette. You will, for example, be taught how to study yourself,
your family of origin, your body responses to life, and your
relationships. Your counselor will focus on drawing out your dreams and
potential, helping you become more creative and empowered in your life.
