Woods and Log Building

Water and Woods

Water is dear to us at Sahale: sweet spring water for drinking and water for our hot tubs comes from Bridey’s well, which is dedicated to the Celtic goddess Brigit (also known as Bridey).

Bridey’s well is secluded in 22 hilly acres of woods across the road from our main buildings. This land is especially inviting to hikers and mushroom hunters. It is also often used for meditation by visitors.

The stream that goes through Bridey’s well is piped under the road, and meanders past the buildings, through the tree farm, to a cat-tailed and willowed pond in the meadow.

Log Building & Tree Farm

Next to the orchard and below a slope of young Douglas fir is a large log building where Sue and Frank Schiller, first owners of this property, lived and raised their family for many years. We are stewards of land homesteaded and held by one family for more than 50 years. Some day we will fully restore this building; meanwhile, we have built in it a bathhouse with four showers, four toilets, and closet and storage space for campers. (We’ve have had more than 50 camping at one time.)
